Who pays for this site
The site is paid for by two things: the consulting described on Work with us, and the books of The Economics of Mexico series, published by Connected Continents Press. No advertiser, sponsor or government pays for it, and no page carries advertising sold to anyone. The pages do point to our own books and consulting, and to the two companies named below.
Who never pays us
We take no fees, commissions or gifts from any outside company we write about, evaluate or recommend, and no company pays to appear on this site, in What's Changing or in the free pack. The one payment we receive in connection with a referral comes from our partner company, Trusted Faces Agency, and is set out below. When a page names a company, it is because the facts call for it.
Two companies close to us, named
Trusted Faces Agency, our partner company, finds, prices and licenses well-known Mexican faces (actors, television hosts, athletes and creators) for brands that sell in Mexico, working through each person's own agency and showing its own fee on a line of its own. When we refer a client to Trusted Faces Agency, it pays us a referral retainer, and we tell the client so before the referral is made.
When a client investing in Mexico needs the paperwork on a property or project evaluated before money moves, we call on YCP, the capital-risk advisory firm of J Rutan Flores. YCP evaluates the paperwork the buyer holds and returns one written judgment: proceed, renegotiate, restructure or walk away. YCP pays nothing for referrals.
What the email list is for
The list sends What's Changing, at most twice a month and only when something moves. Now and then it may also carry news of our consulting, of YCP and of our partner company Trusted Faces Agency; you can refuse that news when you sign up, or later by replying to any email or writing to info@rutanamex.com, and still keep What's Changing. We never sell or rent the list.
