People and wages

What the labour market looks like in the place you are weighing, and what the law asks of an employer.

Why it decides the outcome

Labour is where the savings are promised and where they leak. Wages differ widely between states, turnover can eat a cost advantage, and the law carries obligations an employer from abroad often does not expect: profit sharing, the year-end bonus, social security and the housing fund.

What we look at

  • The average daily wage of formal workers in the states you are weighing
  • Formal jobs, and how they changed over the last year
  • Informality and unemployment, against the national figure
  • The skills already in the region: who else employs people like yours
  • What the Federal Labour Law asks of you: contracts, profit sharing (PTU), the year-end bonus, social security (IMSS) and the housing fund (INFONAVIT)
  • The 2021 limits on subcontracting and the REPSE register, which bear on shelter and contract manufacturing
  • Union representation and contract legitimation, and the USMCA labour mechanism that can reach a single plant

How an engagement on this starts

It starts in writing

Write to us: who you are, what you need and the decision in front of you. We read it and reply in writing: whether it fits, what we need from you, and the fee. We give no opinion until we have read your case, and every figure in our assessment carries its source and its date.
