Published 13 October 2026 · Diario Oficial de la Federación

What changed
A decree makes tariff fraction 9803.00.01, parts and components for assembling cars, exempt from import duty for five years; it paid 10 percent before. It covers only automotive terminal companies that hold a bonded-warehouse authorisation for assembly and manufacture, under guidelines set by the Ministry of Economy.
Who it affects
Auto parts, Manufacturing and machinery.
The source and its dates
Diario Oficial de la Federación, via SIDOF (Secretaría de Gobernación). Published 13 October 2026; in force from 14 October 2026 (the day after publication, for five years). Checked against the source on 11 October 2026.
What to do
If you supply a car assembler in Mexico, ask whether it imports under fraction 9803.00.01 with a bonded-warehouse authorisation: if it does, the parts it brings in for assembly enter without the 10 percent duty for five years from entry into force (to about October 2031). Other importers are not covered by this exemption.
