What changed

At the six-year joint review the United States did not agree to renew the agreement in its current form. Under the agreement's review clause (Article 34.7) that starts annual joint reviews; the agreement stays in force, with its term running to 1 July 2036 unless the three parties confirm an extension.

What to do

Nothing changes at the border today: the agreement stays in force and its preferences still apply. Keep proof of origin on every shipment, watch the annual review dates, and treat any plan that depends on the agreement beyond 1 July 2036 as unconfirmed until the three countries agree an extension.
