Foreign investment: every country and sector
Foreign direct investment in 2025 from every country that sent it, and into every sector.
Every country that sent money in 2025
Foreign direct investment by country of the immediate investor, 2025, USD millions, figures as first published; the fifteen largest and the rest
In all, 67 countries and territories sent positive flows. Spain, the Netherlands and Switzerland can rank high because global groups may invest through holding companies there; the country is that of the company sending the money, not of its final owner. Net withdrawals came from 4 countries, the largest Thailand, −USD 10.3 million. The ministry keeps the figures for 30 countries confidential under the Foreign Investment Law.
Every sector
Foreign direct investment by sector (SCIAN 2023), 2025 and January to June 2026, USD millions, figures as first published
Manufacturing took 36% in 2025; finance and insurance, second, rose to 10,150 million in the first half of 2026 alone. A negative figure is a net withdrawal, shown as such.
Inside manufacturing
Foreign direct investment in manufacturing by subsector, 2025, USD millions, the ten largest
Transport equipment, the auto industry above all, took 46% of foreign investment in manufacturing.
How to read it: these are the figures as first published; the ministry revises them for years and publishes the revised series separately. The investor country is the immediate one. A state breakdown follows the registered address of the company, which favours Mexico City (see Investment by state).
