Every state, by case files
Cargo theft case files, January to September 2026, with the number involving violence and the same months of 2025

A case file is a complaint opened by a prosecutor, not a count of trucks or of events, and many carriers do not file. A raw count makes small states look better, so read it beside each state’s traffic, not as a ranking of danger. The largest rise: Tabasco, from 2 to 45.
Month by month, all Mexico
Cargo theft case files opened by state prosecutors each month, January to September 2026
Between 322 and 463 a month.
What is absent, and why: cargo theft on federal highways investigated by the federal prosecutor (fuero federal) is not in these state counts; the SESNSP publishes federal crimes in a separate file that does not name this crime. Cargo theft by highway corridor is not published as an official series by any public body. Insurers and tracking firms publish their own counts; they are not used here.
